The Polk County Sheriff's Office cordoned off a section of streets in downtown Bartow near the county courthouse Wednesday March 20 due to a reported bomb threat.

The streets blockaded starting about 7 p.m. were North Broadway between West Church Street and West Main Street to North Mill Avenue. The Sheriff's helicopter circled the area around 7:45 p.m. before eventually leaving.

The area was still cordoned off about 9 p.m. Sheriff's Department Public Information Officer Brian Buchey confirmed a bomb threat was made at the booking facility.
