Voters were already present when the polling station at the Bartow Civic Center opened at 7 a.m. (and will remain open until 7 p.m.), according to Wendy Grice. Grice, who has been a volunteer since 1996, is serving in the capacity of supervisor.

"We've had 50 people vote," she said. It was 9:45 a.m. as she spoke. She added that it has been a steady stream.

As voters approached the entrance, they were greeted by Ricardo Caminante. Today is the second time he has served as a volunteer on an election day.

"I greet, direct. I'm the first line of defense,'' he said. Just then a person approached. "Good morning. Have you voted here before?" When the person nodded yes, he directed her where to go once inside.
